278.37_Epicurus and Ethics

In this lecture we discuss the ethics of Epicurus, an Ancient Greek philosopher who ascribed to hedonism and claimed that pleasure is the greatest good in life.

Epicurus is father of Epicurianism
Hedonism (the Cyrenaics which founder is Aristippus) and Epicurus.
Avoidance of pain. Avoidance of pleasure.
Ultimate good in life: Pleasure. Freedom from pain.
How should one act to obtain this good?
One should act with an understanding of desires.
